At the moment I've got a 360 elite but noticed that a high street store is doing a trade in for the elite against a new 360 250gb and one game for £99.99.

My 360 elite is getting on a bit now and I worry about rod and I've also got a kinect which would be easier to connect to the new console and I'd have 250gb vs the 120gb of the elite but is it really worth it?

You get an extra game, more hdd space, an almost silent console, wireless built in, a new console with warranty (a year I think?), a new joypad - lets face it they go a bit lose and crusty over time :P

How much would it cost to replace your console if it does kick it? For a 250gb elite its about £150 at mo. Seems like a good idea if you can afford it really. If you dont like the games on offer you could sell it to make it cheaper...

Just had this email as well, though they think I have a 120GB Elite, when I have a 250GB Elite..... no point in upgrading to the slim.

I had to purchase a new Xbox 360 250gb as my 13 month old son decided to hit the power button whilst my old 20gb was updating to the latest software and killed it.
I have to admit that I'm majorly inpressed with the difference, silent isn't the word compared to the RB211 that was the old unit. Also, more usb ports and not having to faff about with a psu for Kinect as well as inbuilt wifi is a godsend..
I paid £144 for mine delivered brand new and don't regret it one bit. (offer has now finished before I get inundated with emails, lol)

I use to hate my xbox for sounding like a hoover. The day the slim came out, i bagged one. Never looked back. I'd say a BIG YES to getting one.

Check before hand that your local store knows about the deal, mine didn't and claimed it must be participating stores only (which isn't mentioned in the email) and is chuffing annoying after backing up saves and downloads off the old 360.

Hmm that's got me thinking too! Currently on a 120GB Elite (with wi-fi adaptor) but my son has a 20GB (without wi-fi) from which he is always having to remove stuff to make space. Very tempting deal!

Do they transfer your hard drive contents from the 120 -> 250?
I actually wouldn't mind this, my elite is rather noisey.

My original premium Xbox died today made in 2006 (RROD). Replaced it straight away with a 250GB slim.

Luckily i managed to get it to turn back on long enough to stick a USB stick in it go to system memory select your hard drive and then just hit move to USB. (Excluding installed games not much point and didnt have enough room on the flash drive anyway.)

Got the new xbox slim out did the above in reverse. Hey presto all my game saves ext on the next xbox without having to buy a stupid transfer cable or anything.

The only thing is you have to move your DRM licences across to the new xbox and "redownload them" i put that in "" because really you hit download again and it does 100% instantly. This is to make sure all your DLC works correctly.

In all it took me about 10-20 mins to do.
