I currently have a Compaq EVO SFF Computer and it has a P4 2.4GHz Processor in it. Is it worth upgrading the CPU to the maximum the computer would take? Would it take something like a 3GHz?

I would say no, its spending money on a board that is very old and if you are looking to upgrade you might have to start to think about a new system. All depends on why you need to change the CPU?

Well....I'm going to be building a new system soon enough (well maybe September(ish)) which will be a Core i7 or something, but this is just an in-between system so I'm looking to upgrade it to it's max, although it's maximum Ram is 2GB DDR which it now has.

It will do at 2.4GHz if it's not worth upgrading.

I would just make do with what you have, as you may have to spend extra on cooling aswell.

Old tech seems to be a bit pricey, so save your money towards your new rig.

You can pick up a P4 on the bay very cheap so why not? Socket 478 is'nt it? Should be able to get a 3Ghz+ cpu for around 20 quid or less. Make sure your board can take it first though.
