To an i7 950/960 (or any other that's OK with my mobo) in order to (hopefully) achieve a 4 - 4.5GHz OC or would I just be better off waiting until I can afford to replace the motherboard, CPU, Ram etc

Coolermaster CM690 Dominator
GA-X58A-UD5 mobo
i7 920 (3.8GHz OC)
GTX 670 Windforce 3x
6GB Kingston DDR3
Noctua NH-D14 cpu cooler
XFX Pro 750w PSU

Thanks.

Probably better off saving till you can afford a full mobo cpu RAM upgrade in all honesty. Unless the 920 is seriously bottlenecking you're 670 WF's.

I don't think the CPU is bottlenecking the 670..

And agreed with Ollie, save and upgrade to a better CPU/motherboard.. RAM, could be the same.. ;)

No big differences going from 920 to 950/960..
It's proven than a CPU over 3.8-4.0 is more than enough this days to run a game and not being bottlenecked by it..
Beyond that, not a big difference, unless you run at multi displays-highest res/high end GPU's/multi-GPU's..
And even with multi GPU's, if they're mid-range, nothing that matters, either..

Best regards.. :)

I personally wouldn't bother upgrading if it's just for gaming and general usage?

I have had a 920/950 and now the 990x and the only worthwhile upgrade was the 990x due to the rendering and multi-tasking I do.

Was it value for money though, nope, not at all.
