Right I currently have a:

3200AMD64
1GB Geil Ram
Radeon 9800Pro
1 80GB WE SE HDD
1 160GB IBM HDD

Now I know this is old by everyones standards but I don't use my computer to play games (have a PS3 and 360 for that) so am wondering, is there anything that I could upgrade to get a boost in basic desktop performance?

The only thing I can think of is memory, maybe going up to 2GB (Am running XP Pro). Any other ideas?

Unless you are running a lot of apps at the same time (which case you may want to consider X2 as well) 1Gb is enough for normal desktop usage IMO.

Your system shouldnt really be slow, not for desktop use. I'd say before you go spending some money, just re-install Windows, as that always gives the old dog a new lease of life.

Disable all non-essiential services, optimize your pagefile etc, you'll be suprised how nippy you can make windows.

I suppose a cheap dual-core upgrade might be an idea if you do lots of video or graphical work. If you're just a 'normal' non power user, non gamer, your listed spec will probably be fine for ages yet.
