Is it worth upgrading RAM?

Unfortunately that link doesn't work, but In some games and memory bandwidth hungry applications you will certainly experience an increase in performance with faster RAM. Also, as you are using 4 sticks, there is quite bit of strain being placed on the memory controller. If you went for a 2 stick kit, then this would be reduced and you should be able to overclock more easily (if that CPU is a G0 version, aim for 3.6GHz).

I would recommend this kit, great stuff (most likely what you were linking to) and sell your old RAM kit.

Hey Hotchip,

there is not much point in swapping out the DDR2 ram for more DDR2 ram for performance reasons . . . however if you are a LGA775 scholar and just wanted to experiment with what the system could do and the swap-out cost was minimal *and* you are benchmarking then fair enough . . .

The P5Q pro turbo can handle four sticks of memory no problem . . .

At the moment your running 9x333=2997MHz with the memory running on a [6:5] multi which is good . . . if you pushed the FSB up to 400MHz you would be forced to use the sync [1:1] divider which is not ideal for the LGA775 platform . . . even though your processor may be running faster the northbridge would slacken the tRD which would *raise* the system latency . . . processor benchmarks would be higher but the "snappy" feel would diminish! :(

"If" you did have DDR2-1066 you would be able to use the 400MHz-FSB (1600MHz system bus) and still keep the memory on an upwards [4:3] divider @ DDR2-1066 which would mean you could have *both* a faster overclocked processor speed and a low latency system . . . it's good but not really worth £60 odd quid!
