Guys is it worth upgrading to a GTX 580 with me only having a intel 8500 duo-core CPU (normal set to 3.8ghz 24/7)

Or will my CPU be limiting the GTX 580 to much ??

(P.S my sig says CPU @ 4.3GHZ,but that when i was watercooling it and now am only using air cooling)

Get a 570 and a quad :D.

The CPU would still be holding the GPU back on a dual but if you're playing at 1080 and higher then it's beneficial for your GPU to be carrying more of the load.

When you can afford to either upgrade your CPU to a quad and overclock or buy the i5/i7 or Sandy Bridge, then you will release the potential of the card but it would still be a good boost I reckon with your current CPU.

Are you having problems with your GTX 275 SLI which is practically a GTX 295?. Why not just use the money to update your system then get a GPU later?. Sandy Bridge comes out on January the 9th :).

Choices, choices, choices :D.

why not got a 570 and use the £100 you will save + the money you get from selling your dual core and buy a quad core

When i upgrade all my old componets (memory/GPU/CPU/PSU) that fit will be going into a HTPC system to put in my AV rack ;)

I'm not sure it's a great idea to have all highend pc parts in a small low airflow case.. Something is bound to overheat and break.
