Is it worth upgrading to ivybridge?

Nope.

Been there and done that.

What about a i5 [email protected] stock? I cant be bothered overclocking as the only decent coolers ive seen require u to take the mobo out to fix them on, cant be bothered with that. I'd rather put a new mobo and cpu if im gonna have to go through that. I've had the cpu at 3.2 and noticed little difference tbh, not enough to warent the extra heat on the stock cooler.

I was thinking I am okay for now, but I would rather hear some more experienced opinions such as stulids. Might see if i can pick up a 2700k in the future and a z77 board like the sabertooth. And when I get a better cooler I will OC some more to about 4.8 which is waht I had it up to for a while then i realised it was running a bit hot.

well im giving my son my 2500k was gonna get ivy for myself but im thinking SB-E,still in mixed minds what 2 do get another 2500k for my son or take the chance on something different for myself

thats what i did went to a 2700k main reason was the wife photo editing and video editing sold my 2500k

Is it wise to make a purchase in haste in the middle of the night? It certainly isn't neccessary - this isnt an ebay auction.

Iv gone with coupling my Z77 ud5 , with a 2700k , end of the day its the best binned chip tried n trusted architecture overclocks to 4.5ghz with full HP without sweat , last for years, With all the research iv done this release of ivy for high end systems is dross , only worth it for stock speed mass markets , Im hoping for better when it matures , and then ill consider IB , sell the 2700k if it worth it n stomach the difference .
No way i want to be lumbered with a first edition of any CPU release !

OK
It's not imporssible that if people believe there is an immenent price rise then they might feel they need to make supplier selection in haste before all pricing information is available. It's a Sunday after all.
We know the OCUK pricing will last for several days and there is no shortage of stock.
