Is it worth upgrading to Lion?

I hear differing opinions about it as an OS. Some people seem to hate it, saying that it's glitch and slows down their Mac, and that MS Office no longer works. Others say that it's fantastic - faster, easier, etc.

What have your experiences been like?

I'm on a 2011 13" MBP btw.

For me Lion feels like this is the new way to interact with computers. I've got use to it very fast. There were lots of bugs at first but the ones I was experiencing have been fixed.

Given the choice again I would definitely upgrade, just not on launchday.

Most complaints about it have been blown completely out of proportion IMO. There are a couple of fundamental things changed from SL that has inevitably ****ed off a lot of loyal users, but on the whole it's well worth upgrading to. This OS has definitely redefined the way we interact and use gestures on a desktop/laptop.

Lion really is awesome.

I only started using macs with Snow Leopard and tried to force myself to use desktop spaces, they were good but felt tacked on and a had to force myself to use them.

With Lion they are so much more integrated and couldn't use my mac without them. Swiping on my mouse and swooping in and out of mission control is a breeze.

and adding the ability for us to be able to rearrange spaces is awesome. So glad they added that as it was annoying at first.

I'm on the fence, tipping towards favouring Snow Leopard. Kinda got forced into using Lion as I bought a new Mac.

* Full screen mode is good for the supported Apps, and nearly balances out the loss of "proper" spaces.
* Loss of Rosetta support is disappointing as I was still using a couple of PPC apps.
* Lion likes lots of RAM. I've had to upgrade to 8GB as it was paging to an annoying agree on 4GB, which surprised me. A similar application load was actively using around 2.5GB on my previous 4GB machine running Snow Leopard.

I've left the Mini on Snow Leopard as it runs Just Fine. At this time I can't see the benefit of upgrading it to Lion even though I have a spare license.

It's good but it likes RAM and if you uses photoshop or Lightroom....get 8G minimum. The difference between 4G and 8G was like walking or sprinting like Usain Bolt.
