I have an x1800xt 512mb powercooler card fitted with a zalaman cooler clocked at 680/790.


thinking of a 8800gts 640mb is it worth the cash would I see a HUGE jump in performance or a mere blip?

Depends what games you going to play, but the answer is yes you will deffenitly see a large performance boost :)
 
i went from a 7800gtx (the sort of nvidia equivalent to your card) to a 8800gtx and ive noticed like 3 times the framerate across the board so yes you will se a BIG increase.
 
hmmmm....you say 3x frame rates, but say your frame rates were like 40-50, even 30 which is playable, would you really notice? and/or care?

i went from an x800gto, and yes it made a huge difference, can add full AA/AF etc etc, but the x800 coped fine in terms of frames.

think long and hard if u really NEED the upgrade.
