Is it worth upgrading

Not really although if you did it makes far more sense to go for Skylake rather than the EOL Haswell. Can't you get a better overclock from your 2600k? Most should hit 4.5Ghz easily enough.

Yep, as pasty suggests try pushing your overclock a bit higher. Your 2600k will be good for a while yet. Maybe use some of the cash and buy a better CPU cooler if needed.

You would have to try pushing the system bus. BCLK is what you would be looking for.

I would be looking at the rest of your system too, a slight CPU upgrade won't do much if you don't have the motherboard, ram and GPU to keep up.

if it was a really cheap upgrade to the 4790k then yea maybe but if its costing a lot I would look at skylake
