As tittle really,I've currently got a sapphire 7950,and have been reading about using a dedicated gpu for phisx. Is it worth it or not?

If you've got an old nVidia graphics card sitting around doing nothing, then it might be worth giving it a try.

If you're going to buy a card to do so, then no, it's not worth it.

Speaking of physx (sorry for hijack), but having had Nvidia GPU's for months now, I have not tried a single Physx title.

Which is the best?

I heard that PhysX 3.0/3.1 will offload PhysX to multicore CPU's, therefore no NVIDIA card is necessary for the games like Planetside 2 and forthcoming games which feature PhysX. Is this true?

No - advanced effects like those using complex softbodies or fluid dynamics will still require a GPU for realtime viable performance.

3.x Has an advanced scheduler to make better use of multicore CPUs both in CPU and GPU mode.

You can't mix an NVidia GPU for PhysX with an ATI card I'm afraid, unless you use hacked drivers or other workarounds.

Borderlands 2 is the best PhysX game atm.
