yup, that old question.

I was gonna get the E6400 but then I hear Intel are bringing out a mellowed out version in the start of 2007. With the only difference is a few fancy things taken out. The price seems like is gonna be cut in half.

So is it worth waiting? - How useful are the things they are taking out to a gamer such as myself

I seriously think you should wait. I mean the AMD´s 65nm processor is also coming out next year and we can hear the distant calling of the socket AM3 :p Atleast I´m gonna wait and see whats going to happen... Not that the 6400 is bad, I mean it is highl oveclockable still.

iirc there isn't going to be a am3, k8l will be released on the am2 socket! if i were you i wouldn't wait for the new c2d chips the 6400 is a absolute steal or you could get the 6300 which is also a amazing chip!

It depends how much you need it. But the price for the e6300 & e6400 are pretty reasonable & they aren't going to be 'crap' for a good while, especially if you overclock.

Ive never heard of any of those intel chips, 650, 651, 641, 640, 631, 630 etc ? wtf are they ?

i cant see them selling the 6300 for $69, £40
