The speakers there are probably the finest KEF (my favorite manufacturer) ever made, apart from the name (they are called the 109 'Maidstone') which to be honest sounds like a bus route they are stunning. I found myself thinking "look at the monoblocks on that" which is truely disturbing!

I very rarely get to see this speaker as there aren't many pics on the net.

Do you have a favorite dream item of hifi?

I know what you mean, i spent most of yesturday in that state. was working at the bristol Sound and vision show unloading all the equipment, and my god there was some well nice stuff there, was moving al the meridian equipment and helping them unpack and i was drooling the whole time, the speakers they had were awesome, weighed about as much as i do, and were massive.

Some of the stuff that the small companies brought along was amazing, handbuilt amps which cost an absolute bomb, and towards the end of the day when they had a few of the demo setups working in the hotel rooms upstairs, they made me want to steal them :)

Possibly surprising, but I think I've grown out of an interest in kit for it's own sake.
I now research and listen to kit to find something that will make music sound great, not kit that gives me a hard on when I look at it.

I'd like to nominate this are probably one of the most beautiful speaking things on the planet:

Lets face it, wouldn't it be nice if you selected a music or video source and instead of seeing lots of boxes that you saw and heard the real thing?

Twins, now that is a thought!
Of course we all know that all warm blooded males fancy listening to a pair of twins creating that special soundstage at the same time.

Mr_S Do they also come in "Active" mode special for me !!!!!

I'm actual "turned off" by large hideous boxes, the Maidstone's are meant to sound good, but I would put that lot straight on eBay !!! To me the designer has thought more about the purchasers ego, or lack of manhood, and not all he could about the sound.
I could quite happly sit and look at a CD12/Kontrol/Klimax set-up :D
