Hello,

I've just purchased my first home and I'm looking at replacing all the floor, currently, there is old carpet down and with having 2 kids and a dog I don't think it's very practical.

I've been told about LVT which is supposed to be good all round for young families and with all of us being gamers I'm worried about the wear from the chairs. I don't know much about this new LVT product. Did a quick Google search and this came up https://flooringking.co.uk/lvt-flooring/polyflor-lvt/camaro/ - does anyone have any experience with this product? It's reasonably priced and appears a lot in the Google search I did.

Is LVT similar to laminate flooring? I'll be looking at laying it myself to save costs and only ever laid laminate before.

If anyone has any recommendations for LVT or other products it'll be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

I have a mate who is 30 stone and shuffles around on his gaming chair for >12 hours a day on Karndean LVT (buts that professional fitted glue down stuff).

Your DIY click together stuff is probably not quite as resilient but still pretty good and better than real wood or laminate and is waterproof. These are easier to cut and fit than laminate.

SPC (stone plastic composite) or rigid core vinyl adds powdered stone to the mix to make them heavier, rigid, a bit more resistant again and more like a tile in look and feel. I'd be looking here personally. They are still click together and pretty easy to install.

I was going to lay LVT but held off because you need absolutely perfect subfloors. Ironically I had just relaid all my floorboards in 22mm chipboard so it should have been sufficiently perfect, but even then I was put off by just how perfect they need to be.

So unless you are game for screeding the area, stick to LVT click tiles (Moduleo did some good ones I used in my kitchen), or high quality laminate (I went for that in the end).

I put the click together kind in our bathroom/wardrobe and it's great. Was very easy to install and the one I got had built in underlay.

You do need perfectly flat subfloor though so either screed, ply or completely flat chipboard floor
