Is max resolution dependent on PCI express version?

HI, Just wanted to know if the max resolution a graphics card can display is dependent on the type of PCI express slot the card is plugged into? So if a PCIe v3 card capable of displaying 2560x1440 is plugged into an old motherboard which only supports PCIe v1 can it still display 2560x1440 assuming the monitor supports it?
