Is Mazda rx8 is 1300cc ?

Isn't displacement on the tax disc? So regardless of the year you'll have xx cc written on it somewhere...

Course I never actually bothered paying any attention to what was on it so long as it had my reg lol

If you were to write to Mazda UK for confirmation of engine capacity, the reply fromt he Homologation Manager will be as follows:

"I can confirm that the engine capacity of your Mazda RX-7 is 1308cc as determined by the manufacturer. However under a long standing agreement between Motor Manufacturers and the Department for Transport, Mazda UK has always registered new rotary engine cars declaring the engine capacity as 2 x swept volume.

When applying this rule, the effective engine capacity for your vehicle is 2616cc. This figure should appear on the V5 registration document and be used in any official correspondence concerning the vehicle."

The RX-8 has the same cubic capacity. Whichever government department designed the associated forms for motor vehicle registration and their taxation dropped the ball essentially by labelling the field in question 'cubic capacity'. Obviously when they realised about rotaries they had a bid of a problem (and I presume had a hissyfit).

In all fairness I dont really mind paying the 1400cc+ tax bracket. My only gripe was the DVLA had the wrong date of vehicle manufacture, so I got confirmation from Mazda via Mazda UK and had the DVLA update the V5. Now my RX-7 gets the none cat. emissions test. :D
