Is memory there or not?

I bought a PC with a spec of 1GB three years ago, and recently thought I'd upgrade to 2GB. I ran a Crucial scan and it reported
* Maximum Memory Capacity: 4096MB
* Currently Installed Memory: 2GB
* Available Memory Slots: 2
* Total Memory Slots: 4

At power-up memory test confirms 1GB and System Properties show 1GB.

Belarc adviser reports:
1024 Megabytes Installed Memory
Slot 'A0' has 1024 MB
Slot 'A1' has 1024 MB
Slot 'A2' is Empty
Slot 'A3' is Empty

It's a Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-K8NF-9 / GA-K8NF9-SI motherboard.

I wonder if someone could explain what might be going on?

Many thanks for any help.

Put the 2nd stick into slot A2, a quick google on your build suggests its dual channel

EDIT: So you are using slots A0 and A2, usually the slots are matching colours to show this as well

EDIT #2: Ignore the above, your slots appear to run A0 and A1 as matching, and A2 and A3 as matching, most other motherboards split them up!

Thanks for the replies. I looked in the case and there are two modules there. It's a Targa PC and the English documentation is limited But (should have thought of this before) I found a full tech manual in German on Targa.de and (struggling with the German) it seems it's fitted with 2x512MB modules. So I guess I can fit 2x1GB in the spare slots and get a 3GB machine. Thanks again for the help - hope I haven't wasted too much time
