Is MU-MIMO a pointless gimmick?

I think what that article is saying is that there are no, or very few 4x4 clients. Which is true.

As for not testing MuMiMo, he’s pretty much stopped testing WLAN altogether now.i think the last WLAN thing posted as about 9 months ago.

His testbed was shown to have a few issues. And the WiFi Alliance brought out their own testing standard so his testbed had to be revised and I don’t think he’s reviewed anything since.

He infamously reviewed the AP-AC-Lite and AP-AC-Pro taped to a snack bowl which was proved on the UBNT forums to be a great way to wreck their performance.

Anyway - UBNT’s HD 4x4 radios will improve throughput with 1x1 and 2x2 clients and they do support simultaneous transmission and reception. Their AC 2x2 and 3x3 radios don’t claim to be Mu-MiMo and offer no speed benefit other than chain aggregation. That’s why I always suggest people buy the LR over the Pro and the HD or HD Nano over the Pro, because the HD units do definitely support multiple client connections.
