I feel that Legitreviews article has a lot to answer for really. Just buying a dirt cheap power monitor and plugging it into the wall to see how much wattage was being drawn would have been so informative. As it was we just get his assertion that he ran it fine for 'nearly 2 weeks'...and everyone has made the jump to assuming that running a power supply under that kind of strain is perfectly sensible over the longterm.
