Is my 6600 core 2 duo too hot (70c) ???

I bought an intel core 2 duo with the generic intel fan (stupid installation design!), I don't want to overclock or anything but my processor is running at around 70c and that's just in the bios. Everything seems to have clicked into place and the fan is definately spinning. Surely this is not a desirable operating temperature? My fan doesn't even feel hot? Could my mobo be telling me fibs or maybe the fan isn't making the connection with the processor (even though the processor has thermal paste on it from the fan??)

Help!!!

Thanks

Yeah I am. Only the very edges weren't covered. And it was very much a circle, no gaps. After a re-boot it was down to 45c, I'll check if the fan is hot in a moment, I guess it will be a little warmer. What's the maximum tolerance of core 2 duo processors? As I remember Intel stuff always used to be hotter than AMD stuff!

Running at 48c after running Windows XP utilities. Reasonably warm now too, not hot though like CPU fans usually are. Also, I haven't got a floppy drive and have two 250GB SATAs to RAID together, will this be possible without getting my ABIT 3rd party RAID drivers from the floppy on boot?
