I switched my PC on today and was welcomed to the following screen.

Few notes
  • I don't overclock the card
  • I hadn't updated any drivers

I tried uninstalling all the drivers and it works ok when all drivers are completely uninstalled. If I install the newest Nvidia drivers, or any old drivers I get a screen like the photos above. Tried doing completely fresh installs of drivers as well. Unfortunately I don't have a spare PCI-E card to test as I gave my old GTX 760 away, but on board graphics work fine too.

Is the card dead?

I'm sorry to say that it looks like the GPU's memory is shot.

Bit odd that it works without the drivers but then it's probably falling back to a generic windows driver with basic display.

Check the cables. Then remove the 780 and try with the CPU IGP Only.

Let us know your findings to assist you :)
Because it looks is the monitor not the GPU

CPU GFX is working perfectly. I don't have a spare DP cable to compare unfortunately. I'm guessing the cable is ok though, as the 780ti works in safe mode fine...?

I plugged the card back and used HDMI. I can see stuff but it'll never go higher than 1024x768. I've tried multiple drivers, going back to earlier in 2016, and every one gives me the code 43 error. I've completely removed all traces of drivers each time.

Yeah, that looks dead. I have an R9 270X which overheated somewhat and does a similar thing. It displays perfectly until windows decides the drivers are installed and can run a larger resolution. Unfortunately the card shows just a black screen... I should probably put it in the oven to see if that works...

Your card, at least it's displaying something. As did that 4570x2 or whatever it was... It was back to 'normal' after the oven ordeal. That thing was artyfacting in a similar but not so extreme fashion to yours, but in vga mode also, as soon as the screen turned on from booting the PC.

The oven cured it. 8 minutes, gas mark 4 of course...
