Hi Guys

Me and me m8 bought 2 EVGA 8800 GTX KO AC3 graphic cards last week from OCUK..

We both have been having problems with random black screens either when starting a game or in my case when I exit out of a game..

I physically have to turn the pc off on the PSU and then reboot to get any display to come back on...

I was told to use ATI TOOLS and check the artifacts to see if any abnormal shows up..

Guess what there is loads of yellow dots and blocks all over the screen. See pic below...

Can anyone tell me if this is a complete knacker??

Thanks

:(, thats bad, it that stock speed, dots/specks is normally core and triangles (polygons) is Memory.

If so RMA it, its a bad card.

Have you got all needed power leades connected to card (would get you would hear buzzer if not).

yes 626 /1000 stock speed

Yes all leads connected...

The problem is that me and my m8 bought em together and there both the same..... seems a bit weird that both are knackered

We did buy them from the clearance though and they were 100 sovs cheaper that the retail boxed as these are OEM

I purchased the card last Saturday and I called OCUK on the same day I got home and tested the card to tell them about this problem.. I got an RMA number and I told them I wouldnt be able to get it back to them until this Saturday coming. They said post if if you want.

I have to do nearly a 100 mile round trip to get to OCUK and back and something liek this really P****s me off when I have to fart about taking things back that cost me more money..

If ide have sent it thru the post it would have cost me £20 for recorded delivery so Im then another £20 out of pocket..

They want to keep the card for 7 to 10 days for checking and so I have to do without my pc thru no fault of my own for nearly 2 weeks..

Then when they checked it I gotta spend another load of money in petrol to go and fetch the things back again..

If i purchased a tv out of Argos or Currys and it knackered up within a few weeks i get an instant refund or replacement..

Is there anyway of getting round the problem of not having a gfx card for 2 weeks or not?? or do I have to buy another gfx card and wait for them to say 'OH ITS OK THERE NUFFIN WRONG WITH IT' when looking at the picture ive posted there definetly is??

I seem to be screwed either way ..

Any help is appreciated..

Thanks Guys

I just send over £900 worth covered for £1000 back to OCUK next day Special DEL, it cost me £20 from local PO.

Yes if you check on the ROYAL MAIL site then anything special delivery over a certain weight is £19.99..

I sent a motherboard and a cpu cooler what I sold on the bay and that cost me £19.99

If i send it thru a courier then it would be cheaper but I dont like those they have no respect and I know for a fact stuff goes missing... Ive had several things dissapear either receivng or sending goods

You could send that GPU in small box for like £5-7 if you were not in hurry, it would be insured and need be signed for, prob take 3 days if you did on a Monday

Sucks I know but thats life its not like car where you may get a car to use till your is fixed lol.

You best get them cards RMA's and not mess about, there no good in that state.

You will have new cards in time for Bioshock if its indeed 2weeks away.

Theres no point letting one card change your decision, the 8800GTX is faster than a 2900xt. i would wait for the RMA which isnt that long as its from OCUK.

Yes but as I said earlier me and my m8 bought these out of the clearance zone on OCUK website and there were only 2 left...

We are not goin to be able to get any gtx cards the same spec for what price we payed on them and they wont have any more in stock as I phoned them earlier to ask

That means forking out another £100 for a card and then another 40 quid in petrol to get there and back twice

in terms of performance the 2900 is between the gts and gtx, just get the replacement gtx it should be fine, cards being bad happens.

How long is the warrenty on the Clearance items ?

Look into it and get on phone to OCUK at opening time Tomorrow, do not let time go by, they look like DOA's.

You get full warranty on clearance its only the B grades that come with something like 30 days etc....

All the clearance are new stuff and not returns.. supposedly

As I said im not goin to be able to get the same gtx from OCUK for £325 which is what we both paid for each one...

Dont matter, if you bought a new card and its borked they need give you same card type or one same spec, they dont lose, the supplier and manu give them back, get another 2 EVGA's or SIM cards.

They have 10 in stock, not sure why they were on Clearance there current and cost £411.
