Hi guys,

I keep having an issue with my machine during games like world of warcraft where both of my monitors will suddenly start blinking off and on and a bubble comes up in system tray talking about a serious driver error that has recoevered from. I have uninstalled and reinstalled new nvidia drivers but i still get the problem.

Tends to trigger it off when i watch a dvd at the same time as playing a game, but after this the only way to fix it is to switch computer off at the power. Has anyone had a similar issue and know of a way to resolve it or does it sound like i may have a dodgy 8800GTX?

Rest of system is a Q6600, 4gig, Asus Pk5.

try driver cleaner pro and reinstall a different driver and if that doesnt work then format and reinstall windows.

i had a similar problem(in xp) where it would kick out of the game... drivers would unload and i was left with a 16 colour desktop.
cant remember what the solution was but it was probably one of the above.....btw my card was fine as its still working fine almost a year later.

you forgot to mention what os your using

I've had this issue before, what drivers are you using?

The nvidia install tool does not remove two or three rather important files in Vista, which is Vista's fault tbh, uninstalling from Device Manager in safe mode sometimes does the trick but you really want to manually delete them or use driver cleaner or software of that ilk.

Then re-insatlling your desired driver should fix. Be careful to stop Vista from re-installing the base driver from Vista - it always trys it!

thats, of course, if you are using Vista.

Aye vista business 64. Thanks for the tips guys i will give driver cleaner a try then.

Well i have uninstalled using driver cleaner and then reinstalled the latest from nvidia site and i still have the problem. Was happily playing wow on one screen whilst i was watching some inuyasha on the other when BAM, this time it didnt just keep blinking tho, i ended up with BSOD talking about graphics error that was unable to resolve and it shut the machine down.

its a general 8800GTX + warcraft problem I had exactly the same either in single or SLI mode.

Bought a 260GTX to replace and no problems so far.

the 8800GTXs had no problem with anything else I tried only Warcraft, so pretty sure it was down to that.
