So about 10 days ago my monitor stopped displaying games that have a fixed 4:3 and or 16:9 ratio. I've checked all settings on the monitor itself, on Windows and in the driver settings. I even installed new drivers but all games are being stretched to fill the panel.
Secondly, the monitor has started to make a whining noise that changes tones depending on what the predominant colour being displayed on the screen is. For example the pitch of the whine is higher when I'm on the blue of these forums - when I switch to a tab with a white background the pitch becomes lower.
Whilst I know my monitor is still under the 2 year warranty period, I don't have a spare monitor and couldn't be without for any period of time as I work from home and am hopelessly addicted to my games at the minute. Anyone experienced similar problems before?
Edit: Ok so I've just noticed the whining only occurs when I have either Game mode activated or sRGB turned on. What are the supposed benefits of having sRGB turned on anyway - I can't notice the difference when I toggle between it being on and off?
