Is my aging Gigabyte PC35C-DS3R set up ok?

Been looking at upgrading my old E2180 processor in the above board to enable me to handle HD footage for video editing.

I have been recommended (on these forums) either a Q9450 or 9550 as they are relatively easy to overclock to over the 3Ghz marker.

Installed CPU-Z to see what it's running at now and I'm not 100% sure of what I'm reading...

Do they look OK?

I have seen in the BIOS the area to change the 200.0Hmz option, I'm assuming that if I popped in a 9450 or 9550 that would change to 333Mhz then I could change this to squeeze a little extra out of the CPU's?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Only thing I would comment on is the timmings for your RAM, I think should be 4,4,4 12.

You will need to check your BIOS Rev is F12 before replacing the chip - Clicky, this will setup the FSB to 333mhz, you can manually increase this to overclock, but you will need to adjust the memory speed.

I tried just bumping it a little, from 200 to 220, but pc would not boot, and it reset it back to 200.

Should I have set it to something like 266?

Total n00b at doing this, so may have needed to do something else!

A voltage increase may be required. Try putting the core voltage to 1.2 or 1.25V and see if that lets you get to 220 FSB.

Try lowering your FSB: DRAM ratio to 1:1 to eliminate any memory instability at this stage. You should be able to easily clock the nuts of these eXXX chips with a safe vcore up to 1.5v :D

Btw I would have thought this chip could easily run HD at stock clocks, you sure the CPU is preventing playback and not other issues such as drivers/network probs etc?

What cpu cooler do you have?

Ignore HD palyback comment, you are looking for HD editing. Different kettle of fish entirely :o
