Same post i've made in Customer Service but wanted to see if any of you clever chaps had any thoughts?

Hi

Sorry to have to tell you this but i think this card is faulty as well. I'm getting artifacts within windows. see the photo below. When i first tried Dawn Of War 2 i got artifacts on the screen but thought it was just ingame graphics settins because when i put everything on high, it went away. I don't seem to get this issue in games now but i get it every time i use windows.

I've just done a fresh Windows 7 64bit install on a sperate drive to see if it was driver issue but i still get it. If i switch between Aero views it happens although if i don't use Aero it would appear to be ok. I can't screen print the artifacts which suggests it's driver but then a fresh install and i've tried new and old ATI with same issue.

Any thoughts?

actually i still get small artifacts when i'm not running Aero view.

You would have to be extremly unlucky to get x2 broken, brand new cards... Have you check out the temps you are running at? You must be starting to wonder if it's something other than the GPU's now right?

it's a MSI 6970. I've checked temps using afterburn and it peaks at 65c while in game and sits happy at 41c. System has been running fine with my x1950xtx and still does. it all sits in a 650D so there is airflow!! The first thing i did was start Dawn of War and got artifacts all over the place. It seem to cycle through the artifacts which does seem like Vram. Just can't believe my luck. I do wonder if these models are on a faulty batch?? I have read 2 or 3 people having issues with there cards from OC.

What power supply are you using with this? As has been said it will be really strange that two seperate cards have the same issue..
