hi all

couple of days ago i purchased a new case, 6gb ocz 1600 ddr3 ram and a corsair H50 water cooler for the cpu here from overclockers.

yesterday the delivery arrived and i put everything in the new case and turned it on. initially fans a such were working but it didn't post into bios, there was just a black screen. i did notice the fan on the graphics card weren't spinning so i switched it off and double checked everything. now when i switch t on, the phase led flash once or twice and instantly shuts the computer off.

i tried to reseat everthing, reinstalled the cooler and have tested it with just one stick of the new ram as well as the old.

nothing seems to be working. i took out the mobo battery overnight and this morning same thing...

spec:
i7 920
gigabyte ex58 ud3r
corsair 620w psu
corsair h50 cpu cooler
260gtx graphics
3x2gb ocz 1600 ddr3 ram

thanks for helping and sorry about my messy post as its typed up from my mobile

Have you tried the old hotwire the PSU trick to see if that works ok by itself?

Before you did the case swap, you weren't by any chance seeing how well you could slide accross nylon carpet whilst wearing a nylon shell suit, were you?

hahaha no unfortunately. i did touch my radiator though before fitting the computer to get rid of static

You can always send it back if you don't need it (within 7 days)

thanks, i didn't know that. I was initially planning to just keep it if it wasn't fixing the problem and use it for the next computer i build.

would overclockers accept the return if the reason was just 'unwanted'?

thanks for all the replies and help it was much appreciated.

i managed to fix the problem. it was cause i had tightened the h50 cooler to the cpu too tight and it had mislodged a couple of the cpu pins on the motherloard. i just straightened it out with my penknife and it worked.

anyways i shall probably keep the psu i purchased and use it for when i eventually upgrade to 480gtx or something.

again thx for all the help
