I have a Radeon Sapphire ATI 5770 HD 1GB which I paid 100 quid for upgrading from GTS 8800.

Anyway I play BFBC2 and even if I lower the reoslution real low and detail low I still get very poor FPS. Even as low as 20s when much action.

I typically get between 10-20 on high detail and 25-30 MEd detail...Preffered res 1650x1050?

Anyway my CPU is only 2.13GHz Intel 2 core.

I have 3gb ram DDR2 Ram 800mhz? so this is unliekly causing the FPS drop?

CPU is my weak link is this causing the real poor FPS?

I just cant see it being my GFX card. It still retails for 100 quid so surely not!!!

Your graphics card is fine, I think it may be number of cores on your CPU rather than the speed, the newer games are using the extra cores more, BFBC2 and Black Ops are different games on quad core systems compared to dual core systems. If you have a 775 board you could look at getting a Q6600 G0 and overclock if your board is good.

BFBC2 is a cpu intensive game. Consider overclocking your CPU. As mentioned above a second hand Q6600 and overclocking it slightly will be a massive improvement.

We have a cheapish Athlon II X3 (overclocked at 3.5GHz) and a Sapphire Xtreme 5850 and this maxes out BFBC2 at 1920x1080.

try oc it i take its an e6400 i used to have one of them and they oc really well on stock coolling i think i got 2.8 and with a new cooler (cant remember what it was this was like 4 years back :P) i got 3.3 2.8 would give you a good boost tho.

and if you dont know how to oc it is pritty simple rase the fsb to 350 multi of x8 set the ram to the lowest ratio. i think that i actually was able to undervolt mine as well to 1.15v even with the 2.8 oc :)

Ok guys so should I

1. Overclock it

2. Buy New quad core CPU

??? Will overclocking it be enough if its the number off cores the main issue?

ALso, hwo good or bad is buying 2nd hnad CPU. How long do CPU last for? Is it better to buy new?

I was going to buy quad core Q8300 but Q6600 is enough?

I can buy new Q8300 for like 110
or 2nd hand Q6600 for like 60

For overcloking is this done in the BIOS I will try taht now. Any chance off a step by step help lol thanks?

A 955BE?

It's newer, easier to overclock and should reach 4.2Ghz easily enough with a decent cooler.

That said, in a few weeks the new AMD processors will be released, might be worth waiting and saving a bit longer.
