Hi,

I hope this is the correct section to describe my issue- apologies if it is not - its my 1st post.

I recently came across an issue with one of DP outputs on my graphic card. I have Sapphire Nitro+ Vega 64 with 2 DP's and 2 HDMI's
In the past I had my monitor plugged via HDMI and only used DP for my Rift S. I used HDMI as I did not have any decent DP cable but still everything was working fine in this configuration (1080p) so no big issue. I then finally bought the cable and plugged the monitor to DP output - still everything was working fine.
About a week ago I wanted to plug my Rift S into the second DP output (I think this was the first time I ever used it) and my screen went blue with a Windows message advising me about a crash due to a serious issue. It scanned my drive and rebooted whilst I unplugged the Rift S and the system was working fine again.

Not knowing what happened I changed my monitor from DP1 to DP2 and the monitor was constantly losing signal - random black screens without any pattern; during boot, Idle, Load etc.

I moved it back to DP1 and it was working fine again. Moved it to HDMI and pugged Rift S into DP1 and all good again.

Over the last week I tried 3 different cables - all working fine on DP1 but same issues (black screens) on DP2. I even used my work monitor (old Dell) with same effect; good on DP1 and black screens on DP2.

Not sure what else I should do? Can a GPU have a faulty DP output?

I could potentially go back to HDMI but wanted to upgrade my monitor to a decent 1440p, 144Hz IPS panel which will have to be plugged to DP anyway - don't want to swap the cables all the time when I want to use VR

My Vega 64 was bought in March 2019 so I can still RMA with Overclockers but would like to know your opinion first.

Thanks,

I was reading a lot about black screens on DisplayPort but nothing similar to my situation where one of them is working absolutely fine whilst the other has issues.

I will contact the team to RMA it but probably after the New Year. Been waiting for Cyberpunk2077 way too long to be left without a GPU when it finally releases. Ill just enjoy it for during Christmas break and send away when I get back to work.

Your call, of course, but personally I'd rather keep a partially functional graphics card I got from new and otherwise works fine, than get a refurb with no known history.
