is my E6600 dead?

Last week I reported that my system would no longer POST, no beeps, display, nothing.
The only beeps I got was when I removed both sticks of RAM. The base of the m/board under the cpu was warm and so I took a gamble that the m/board was dead.
I bought an identical m/board, uninstalled the water cooling gear and now exactly the same thing is happening. ATM Ive got installed graphics card,RAM and cpu. All power connections to the board seem OK, the green power LED comes on.
Do you think the cpu is dead?

have you tried with just one stick of ram in place?

yes, still no response.

Sounds like the same thing I went through when my A64 3000+ packed in.

Ive made an RMA request. Now to decide what chip I replace it with.
