I have a E6850 3.00 ghz overclocked to 3.6 ghz. Is it past it? I notice when i am playing online games i'm usally the first to load maps, but i dunno seems kinda old tech . Could any one suggest a upgrade or are there any new cpus in the pipe line worth waiting for. I'd have around 200 pounds to spend me thinks

You've got a decent CPU, tricky to beat it unless you go Quad and have other uses for your computer besides gaming. 
Easy,, your hdd is to blame,, give it the sack
His hard disk is to blame for him loading online game maps first.... Yes it probably is, but that doesnt sound like a good reason to give it the sack
.To the OP. You already have a good system, and if it currently does everything you want (and most games dont make use of Quads yet), then wait for Nehalem. Nehalem should be a little better on traditional single threaded software, and a lot better on multithreaded programs. But to go to nehalem you'll likely need motherboard, ram and CPU, so keep saving
