Hello

Right now my gaming build is running

Gigabyte x58 G1 killer gaming motherboard
Intel i7 960 @ 4.2ghz prime 95 ok
Corsair H100i cooler
Corsair xms3 ddr3 6gb ram @ 1600mhz
Msi gtx 560ti oc 2gb GPU x2 in sli
OCZ 128 vertex ssd x2 ( 1 for windows 8 and other for games )
WD 500mb black hhd storage drive
Corsair ax850 psu
Corsair 600t white case

I have been looking at the new Gigabyte sniper 3 z77 board and the i5 3570k cpu and the gtx 660/ 670 GPU cards to replace what i have now.

But just dont know if should invest or wait another year?

Thanks for reading
Kyle

What res is your monitor ? only thing I'd change out is the GPU's really but if they run everything ok then not much point.

Up your Ram to 12GB too can never have enough ram and it's cheap as it's ever gonna get.

I would keep what you have at the moment. Maybe upgrade Gpu to 7959 or 670.
I have sli 560ti and don`t have any problems playing, although I don`t play online. So, until I start to struggle with games, will hang on for the time being.

I set my res to 1080p on a 23 inch screen the in nvid control panel.

I do game a lot online gaming in mmo games and i do all ways set up every game i play to max settings and right now games like skyrim swtor sto ect get avg 65fps and if turn aa down little get het higher.

I deffo need more ram i notise this.

If i upgrade my gpu would a singel card be better than two 560ti oc in sli? and my board pci express 2 dont surport pci express 3 would this new cards work but run at pci ex3 speeds?

Thanks for replys.
Kyle

Hi Kyle,

Single card wise if you get either a 7950 or 670 or above you'll not struggle at 1080p heck even a 660Ti would suite your needs if Nvidia is you brand.

Pci express 3 cards are fully backwards compatible with pci express 2 and 1 so you'll have no issues with a new card.

Hi,

I'd keep the SLI setup unless you have problems with it.

In SLI supported games a pair of 560TI's won't be far behind the either the 7950 or 670 especially as you have the 2GB version.

I have the Palit version of the cards with a slight overclock and I can't justify an upgrade at the moment especially @ 1080p.

I'd hold onto your cash for 12 months, let Haswell arrive with a selection of decent motherboards and then buy into the next generation of GPU.

Thanks for all the replys very helpful as always i may just up my ram to 12gb and maybe just buy msi 680 gpu and wait till haswell and the new z87 boards to come out :)

+1, waiting to see how haswell pans out, my i7 920 at 4.2GHz still kicks butt, why waste money.

I honestly think it's fine. Put whatever money you would've spent into a savings account, add a bit to it and revisit the question in 6 months - a year. With the rate that technology develops, the build will eventually be outdated, and you'll be able to buy yourself something shiny.

I'm running a single 560ti and I find it plenty for everything on High.

With my 2 msi 560ti 2gb in sli oc to 920mhz they do run every thing i throw at it on max but the reason am thinking bout upgrading gpu is the fans are so loud when gaming temps only sit at 65c but noisy and the 2gb msi 560ti sell for £100 ish on ebay second hand so i could sell both and buy a single gpu.

If i do upgrade i have been looking at the msi gtx 670 oc power edition or the msi gtx 680 lightening but after read reviews seems a lot people pick the 670 over 680 and over clock it.

What the best to buy out them two and would a single one thats listed above better than two 560ti in sli.

Regards
Kyle
