This has just happened and my PC froze, forcing me to reboot.

I suspect GFX card or PSU.

Have you over clocked your card?

It could be you power supply, do you have another one to try?

I've not touched the card. Its a factory set Gigabyte Super Overclock Edition 580. I don't have any other GFX card to play with. Its the first time its done this since I started playing Wildstar.

It did have a month of doing something similar, where the screen would go black and the PC froze, with sound stuttering. That was many months back, then things just started behaving normally again. Until now.

Given how much work a GPU does, if it was a hardware issue I'd expect you'd see it occurring more often than not, it could be something else hardware related or maybe even software.

Have both issues only occurred in Wildstar? Might be a game issue (it is new still right?). Either way I wouldn't write off the GPU just yet, maybe try some benchmarks like Valley/Heaven to stress it out and see how it acts.

how much cpu/vtt are you using? freezes and sound loop usually point to pc memory or gpu memory secondly

The earlier issues happened before Wildstar was out. It used to happen after launching World of Tanks, just as you enter the hanger. Then even sometimes while just using windows. A few times, upon starting it up, it went and rebooted before getting into windows.

It was 1.050v [Auto]

I'm probably going to replace the system with the Haswell-E dependant on prices.
