is my gpu dx12 ready

its ready as all GCN cards have support for dx12
wait for dx12 and win 10, play games and if any case you want more performance then upgrade.

GCN 1.0 is DX Feature Level 11_1.

It will "support" DX12 but if you want to take advantage of most of the DX12 features you'll need an upgrade.

For the laughs, R9 370 is also GCN1.0 and the same feature level and doesn't even support freesync.

Some of the things I've been reading state that essentially the GCN cards have all/most of the performance orientated aspects of DX12 but lack some/most of the visual aspects, which I take to mean HQ lighting/particle effects etc.

Performance was the focus of Mantle and the processes used are the same or similar as those in DX12. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

wait and see dapper, coders will want their dx12 version to hit as many cards as possible including the previous nvidia generations that have even less dx12 support than your 7870. i would imagine you'll be fine.

By the time we actually get any DX12 games you will most likely need a new card anyways. A bit pointless for the time being.

This, wait a year if you happy with your card by then 14/16nm Gpu's from both camps will be close and they will be monsters and dx12 would have settled down.
