Does it do this in windows or games?
Do you know if you have dust buildup in the GPU, participially around or on the memory chips?

What are you running btw?
 
can you disable crossfire, activate and use a individual core? within catalyst control center?

Really? I thought it was usually the other way round. Nvidia usually has better support when it comes to multi GPU but when it's single GPU both drivers are absolutely fine.
 
^ I was supposed to add some guy sold me a dodgey 4870 that was just like that. Managed to get it to boot into windows clear only twice after being just like yours so many times, but even when I did with a big white tear down the centre! Nothing I could do.
 
well if you do get new gpu or GPU's. get the 6870's, they susposley have better crossfire efficency so thus better preformance than the 5870's. Can anyone confirm the shizzle i just said.
