My laptop has started flickering a lot recently and the screen goes black and occasionally it comes back and says something along the lines of Intel Display driver for Window 7 (R) has stopped responding and has been recovered.

This has been got progressively worse over the last 2 months, sometimes I turn it on and within 5 minutes the message appears and then the screen goes black. I've tried the following.

- Uninstall driver and reinstall driver
- Checked drivers are up to date
- Temperatures look ok, slightly warm 50-55 degrees at idle.

I sometimes play games on it, but as soon as I try that the laptop screen goes black.

Any ideas?

EDIT: The main graphics chip is an Nvidia GT635M
