Just went and upgraded my monitor from a full HD 1080p to a UHD 4k monitor. I played one of my lighter games (FIFA 15) and its a bit blurry I'm assuming that's the frame rate on full settings but I'm sure I read somewhere you could run 4K full settings with an R9 290 on all but the best games.

Is my recently bought R9 useless for 4k or is thee an issue with setup or software that might help. I think theres a little blurring on the desktop too so I am a bit worried this card is not even upto that.

PSU: Corsair RM750
Motherboard: GA Z77 DSH
CPU: i5 3570k
GPU: R9 290 Vapor-X oc
Memory: Corsiar Vengence 8GB Ram 1600mhz
Case: Phantom 410
OS: Windows 8.1 64Bit
SSD: Samsung Evo 250gb SSD
HDD: 2tb Seagate 7200rpm HDD
Monitor. ACER CB280HK 4K 28" LED Monitor

Have you made sure the res is correct as some games don't automatically pick up on the newer res. I.e if it's still doing 1080p on 4k then it'll look blurry.

Yep, this is what I was going to say.

On my 4k monitors, anything around the 1080p mark looks shocking!

Sorry for sounding stupid how would I do that?

Derrrrr Sorry yes I've changed the resolution manually so I'm fairly sure it correct, but tbh it looks worst 4k that it does 1080p

For desktop : If your on 8.1 right click your desktop, screen resolution, if it's not set to 4k then move the slider up till it is then click apply.
Games : Go into Video settings and click through the resolutions till you get 4k.

Go into the game in question and look for video/graphics options and set it to 4k Res (3840 X 2160)

Edit: I need to learn to refresh things!

That's called tearing and is a sign that your GPU perhaps, not as comfortable as it could be.

Does that happen on the desktop, at idle?

What refresh rate is that at? I bet it's at 30Mhz...

On the browser when scrolling at idle yes, I am so gutted, this is a relatively new card though surely it can run desktop and simple browser processes at this res

Yes, it should be able.

Are you running on the latest drivers? Can you tell me the monitor refresh rate?

Is it 4K or Native 4K? On mine I get two options, the later drops it down to 30Mhz, the former at 60.
