I have heard a lot of people say my 9800GTX graphics card is outdated. BTW, I only spent £450 on my rig (specs in sig) so bear in mind I am not a hardcore gamer!!!

I dont really understand why- DX10.1 failed, so no worries there, and DX11 is brand new. It still seems powerful and plays MW2 maxed out at a constant 60+ FPS.

No!

Only upgrade your computer when you actually need the extra performance!

If all your games are running fine I would stick with what you have.

Before you think that your computer is outdated check the latest Steam Hardware Survey:

http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

Around 75% of people are running single and dual core systems under 3GHZ!

IIRC,there is something like 20 million users of Steam.

As long as its playing your games ok itll be grand. Ive actually dropped down to an 8800gt (well when it arrives) as my gtx 280xt is currently away for rma. Rocking a stunningly fast 7300gt at the mo.:o

On mm, £50.00 for an asus 512 model, just missed out on an 8800gts 512 the same evening, had the gts before and know that its a good card for 1920x1200. 8800gt should be fine as well, finally able to play a few games and watch blu rays in bed.:D

Think your card is equal to a GTS 250. So it's "current" gen NV.

As said it's only outdated when it doesn't do what you want :) I still rock MW on my old machine at my parents house with it's 850XT-PE (most expensive component I've ever bought :D )

x1950 Pro was a great card for me. Hard to believe that was 2 computers ago. Seems like yesterday I was excitedly installing it so I could play Total War: Medieval 2 with decent fps when it came out.

As a "hardcore" (lol) gamer FPS to me is the difference between life or being noobed!! .... a lower ping would help!!!

Not outdated and if the 60 FPS is good for you... don't worry. I still get mates over in the States killing me with older cards than the 9800.
