Is my graphics card / rig good enough to warrant a 144hz display?

I'm looking to build a new rig and wasn't sure if I should go for a 144hz or 60hz monitor.

The build I'm going for is as follows:-

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: Asus Z170 PRO GAMING/AURA ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory: Kingston Savage 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card

The 2 montiors I'm choosing between are as follows:-

Monitor: Acer XF270HU 27.0" 144Hz Monitor (£389.99)

Monitor: BenQ GW2765HT 27.0" 60Hz Monitor (£294.01)

With the build I'm going for, would I even be able to run games at the quality to make the most of the 144hz screen, or would the 60hz suffice?

Any advice would be most welcomed!

Those monitors are 1440p.
A 1070 will be enough to run and surpass a 60hz monitor.
However, a 1070 will not be able to guarantee to hit the max 144hz, ofcourse that's depending on what game it is also. Although, a 1070 will be able to pump out >60fps in which the 144hz will be able to utilize and besides you will not regret going for a monitor with a refresh rate greater than 60hz, soo smoooth!

Just a note though, the Acer XF270HU is a freesync monitor. To utilize freesync technology you need an AMD graphics card. But that doesnt mean that you cannot use the said monitor with an Nvidia card, just that you wont be able to use the freesync technology.

With an R9 390 nitro 8gb on an XF270hu I've had 55-60fps on witcher 3, ultra settings hairworks off, dropping to 44fps in extreme weather effects.
Your 1070 should do much better.
All looks smooth, with or without freesync on.
Build quality of the xf270 is poor but the panel is good - same as in more expensive monitors, such as the £1,000 eizo gaming monitor.
(no dead pixels, unnoticeable bit of glow in bottom corner)
 
I agree with the XF270HU it is a decent panel but you will get bad build quality, the stand is decent but Acer haven't even stuck the model number square on my bezel so it is slanted! The LED light also leaks around all the buttons near it and isn't center with the see through plastic. I'd rate mine 8.5/10 just because of that and some minor backlight glow.

The one I've got - the plastic bezel isn't even flush with the rear frame, so that sticks out at the top corner.
It's kind of annoying because it's what you'd expect of an £80 monitor, not a £400 one.
I'm thinking of sending it back and keeping an LG monitor,which is visibly better quality.
No real complaints about the important part, the panel though.
