And how do I un-knacker it?

In the past week it’s started shutting down at a reported 37-39% battery. When I try to switch it back on I get the “need to plug in” / red battery symbols on screen.

I read online that I could ‘reset’ the battery by plugging the phone in for a minute then unplugging, running down to 0% and then charging to 100% but that doesn’t seem to work because it won’t run all the way down to 0%.

When it does shut down it is immediately on 11-14% battery when I plug it in.

Have tried a hard reset while it’s showing 14% and it went back up to 40%.

Battery screen in settings still shows 90% battery health. Any suggestions??

£49 for a new battery from Apple or £1000+ for a new phone... decisions, decisions ;)

/edit - Have you tried a calibration? I didn't think it was still a thing these days but @Raymond Lin had some luck doing it recently on a phone that was playing silly whatsits.
As in battery calibration or something else?

Letting it stay off after shutdown for a few hours then charging to 100% and leaving it charging longer than normal means the fault seems to have stopped. Will now drop below ~37% charge without shutting down. Saved me £600+, at least temporarily.
