Sounds to me like your Sync is fine, you just have a lower bras profile or some kind of speed limit in place.
Even all the stats are the same accept the downstream is a tad lower but cos Ive been messing with the router today. The actual dl speed is still 29k and thats what I dont get, its connecting at 4mb but its downloading stuff at 29k.
Im going to ring my isp up tomorrow, explain to them whats happened and fingers crossed they may be able to reset my line. I think its deff my fault cos I was using a rubbish extension lead that kept on disconnecting my line, and that made my speed to keep on dropping

As for ADSL2+ offering better speeds than ADSL on the same line length, this just is not true. It may be the case when you're achieving ~6mbit+, but on lower line-speeds ADSL will more often offer you a better sync (albeit a small improvement).
So can I still have adsl2+ even tho the guy said my exchange isnt fast enough?.
Im sure a few months back when I checked on my isp site on the line checker thing it said 5mb, but now it says 3mb![]()

Posting that image doesn't mean much. Where is it coming from? Are you sure their servers are running at a decent speed
This is a pretty accurate speed test on a UK site. What does this one show?

Looks like your IP profiling is re-training. Should solve your problem given a few more days
As for ADSL2+, I knwo from experience lines as slow as 3Mbit see drastic improvements. as said previously my line use to run at 4ish, 5ish on a good day once I'd hacked about in the master socket, it's now running at more than double that on ADSL2+ through LLU.
Not everoyone will get that but 99.9% of cases will see an improvement.
All subscriptions have at least a 14 day cooling off period during which you can cancel without incurring a severance charge. So you can't lose anything by signing up, give it 7-10 days to train and if it's no better cancel and move back to ADSL.

I suspect your sync profile is aiming for 12db target SNR. You might be able to have this adminstratively lowered to 9 or 6 which will likely allow you to sync a little higher. Though whether or not it'll jump up enough to raise your throughput profile is another story. Though bodes well for a move to ADSL2.
