Hi Folks,

Can you please help me overclock my machine more. Below are details of the current setup including some screenshots of cpuz and hardware monitor.

It currently runs at 27 degrees max so please ignore hardware monitor.

Current Setup:

CPU: Intel Pentium E2180 (Socket 775 LGA)
Core Speed: Overclocked from 2000.0 MHz to 3010.0 MHz

Mainboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC.
P5k-E Rev 1.xx

Memory: DDR2 Corsair PC2-6400
2 x 2GB
2 x 1GB
Overclocked from 800Mhz to 903Mhz
Most RAM timmings set to auto in the bios.

RAID 0
2x250GB

Running Vista Ultimate 64Bit

What cooling are you using?

I'd double check your temps with a program like core temp. 27c is very cool with weather like this atm.

What is the vDimm set at? I doubt you RAM will like the 50MHz overclock with stock timings unless it's set above whatever it's rated voltage is.

I'm just using the standard fans that came with my mb and case. My case is the Antec P182 Super Midi Tower. It has 3 fans set at medium level. I live in Northern Ireland the sun doesn't come often. My computer room always has the curtains shut and the window open so its always resonably cool. I'm thinking about getting water cooling but I just spent a ton of money on 2 22inch monitors.

I thought 103Mhz was too good to be true. I might lower it. I don't want to end up with no RAM cos I'm not experienced with overclocking. My vdim is set to auto in the bios like all my RAM settings apart from the Frequency. The cpuz utility tells me its currently at 1.8v

My brother told me he could overclock the cpu to 3.2 GHz with the bus speed set at 320 and the multipler set at 10 but when I do this it just blue screens. So far I can play cod4 with everything on full without it sweating too much.

If your just using the stock fans I'd say the temps that hardware monitor is reporting are closer. Ive always gone with the highest temps reported, that way you'll never go too far and burn out expensive hardware :)

Thanks for the replies. I'll take your word for it about the temperatures. I'll just have to wait until I save some more cash for better cooling :(

If hardware monitor is right 40c isn't bad on stock cooling, I'm currently running higher. Its more important to keep an eye on your temps when the cpu is under load than when its idling.

The reason your bluescreening is because your pushing the ram too far. The next step i'd take would be to lower the ram speed to under its rated speed (its 400mhz and yours is set at 451 mhz) then just push the cpu frequency slowly up.

Not sure how to do it on your board but if you google it i'm sure they'll be some o/c info on the P5k-E, good luck! :)
