Is my monitor dead?

I have this monitor for around 4 months now: LG W2234S

It stopped working last night while I was watching a movie, the screen went black and the blue power led started blinking every couple of seconds or so.

I tried another monitor and my pc is working just fine, so it’s not that.

I also tried the “broken” monitor on another pc and it’s doing the same thing on the other pc as well.

So it looks like that most certainly that the monitor has gone bad on me.

I Googled a lot but I found only one post in some random forum on which they were talking about opening the monitor and replacing some power inverter, which of course I am not going to do while I can use the guarantee still.

Any ideas though what’s the problem? Has this happened to anyone else here? Not that it’s likely a fixable problem that I can solve on my own, and I suppose I have to RMA it, but who knows, it's worth a try! :o

Thanks in advance for any input. :)

Definitely sounds like a monitor fault considering you hooked it up to another PC and its still not working otherwise it could have been something to do with the graphics card. Did you try using another DVI/VGA cable? I would definitely say try another cable if you have not done so already, would imagine you have since you probably would have tried the other cable from the other PC.

If that does not work I would say organize an RMA.

Well, for anyone that will probably have a similar problem in the future and cares enough to read, here goes the solution:

After 15mins of torturing LG on the phone they told me that there were a considerable amount of this specific model of monitors that had some kind of software fault. It is covered by their guarantee, and it costs nothing to get it fixed.
Simply taking the monitor to LG or an authorized service point and update the monitor's software, and there you are, voila! So it's all fine and working like charm now, phew!
