Hi people,

Just bought my self a new case (Lian Li v1000z) and I think it might be faulty. Basically I fitted the stand offs for the mobo and then put the mobo it. The problem is the I/O connectors on the back dont seem to line up correctly with the back plate. They are 3-4 mm out. This means i cant plug anything into the usb, ps2, connectors etc. Also the PCI, PCI-E slots seem to be slightly out as well.

I am using the back plate that came with my mobo (Asus Maximus Formula) and had no such problem in my old case

It does say the case is 'hand made' but to what extent I have no idea. Is it possible this is a manufacturing defect? Has anyone else had a similar problem, or can suggest anything?

I hope this all makes sense, and thanks in advance.

Loosen all the motherboard screws then gently push the motherboard until it does align properly, then tighten up 2 screws (1 each end of the board) to hold it, then finish it off. There is a little give in the mount screws due to the small thread. Nothing major.

Thanks for the reply

I have tried pushing the motherboard until it does align properly, but then the stand off's arent in the right place, to screw the motherboard in.

However I'll give it another try tonight, just for peace of mind.

Silly question, did you use the Lian Li stand-offs which come with the case!
When you say 3mm out is to high or low. Is it possible to post some pix.

Yes I used the supplied standoffs :)

It is roughly 3mm out too high. I will try and get some pictures up, but am at work now so wont get a chance to do this until i get home :(

I'm not new to building cases and must say this is the first time I have had such a problem.....

thats really wierd! i had no probs like that in the slightest with mine! :/

That's a long way out.

I've had a couple of lian li's and found then to be around 1mm or so out but never as much as 3mm.

Hope you manage to sort it out. :)

As i say I'll try and get some pic's up later.

But atm I am debating sending it back assuming its a manufacturing defect (it is 'hand made' afterall)

Like you say gt, if it was only a mm out I wouldnt mind, but as it stands I cant plug anything into the back usb, lan ports....

This image shows an example of what i mean (not actually my comp)

The red circles and squares shpw where my I/O's come up in relation to the back plate.

I will put some proper images up when i get Home, but hopefully this will clarify things in the mean time :)
