Hi guys,
Had some issues with my PC last week (wouldn't boot at all) and I jumped the gun and bought a Super Flower 850W Platinum(kudos to overclockers for 2 day delivery to Cyprus btw) to replace my aging Silverstone 1000W PSU.
After installing I found out that it still wouldn't boot and then (retarded I know) I did my troubleshooting to find out that my ASUS 290X has shorted VRMs throwing the over voltage protection in the PSU.
Long story short installed an old 4870X2 I had and my PC booted, albeit problematically.

I had my old PSU EPS 8 pin CPU cable connected to the motherboard and was able to overclock my AMD 8320 CPU to 4.5 GHz (ASUS Crosshair V board).
The SuperFlower refuses to boot the PC with the 8 pin connected, I get power for 10 seconds (I can enter BIOS etc) and then it shuts down.
IF I connect both the 8 pin and 4 pin cables then nothing happens (no boot at all).
If I connect the 4 Pin CPU Cable (only) then I can boot the PC and it works fine.
Problem is I cannot overclock at all. It's like anything above stock is unstable as hell.

Any ideas? Is my new PSU problematic?
