Is my new RAM faulty?

Just completed building the following and have various issues:

Intel i3 530 (from ocuk)
Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H (from ocuk)
OCZ Gold 2x2Gb DDR3-PC3-12800C8 1600Mhz (from ocuk)
Asus HD5770 1Gb (already had)
Samsung 1TB HDD (Sata) (bought else where)
LG DVD-RW Drive (bought else where)
OCZ ModXStream 500W PSU (from ocuk)
W7 HP 64Bit OEM (from ocuk)

(All parts except the HD5770 are new and arrived yesterday)

During installation of W7 I encountered various issues including BSODs however eventually it installed.

Upon finally completing an installation without issue bootup now said i have two versions of W7 installed?!

Also upon getting to desktop and starting to install drivers etc I get another BSOD and upon restart Windows runs the memory diagnostic tool and says that it has detected problems and that I should contact the manufacturer?

No I haven't - no problem in posting but as soon as running windows I get random BSODs. Can range from straight at logon to almost half an hour of use before I get one but they're all the same.

Hey Alex,

I bought two sets of that RAM several months ago, lobbed in with full [Auto] settings and had similar issues? . . . on closer inspection in the BIOS I noticed the board was stating the memory was using 1.5vDimm, the official website lists 1.65v as did the sticker on the ram . . .

I then manually set 1.65vDimm and everything worked fine?

Have you got any voltage monitoring in the BIOS? . . . check to see what the sticks are getting, if not just manually set 1.65vDimm and then run Memtest86+ from a bootable CD-ROM

Hi I've just ran Memtest86 (v3.5)

Got the following info after running memtest for about 10seconds!!

----

Error Confidence Value
Lowest Error Address: 0001fbcc010 - 507.7MB
Highest Error Address: 0001fbcc010 - 507.7MB
Bits in Error Mask: 08000000
Bits in Error - Total: 1 Min: 1 Max: 1 Avg: 1
Max Contiguous Errors: 1
ECC Correctable Errors: 1
Errors per Memory Slot:
1:2
3:0

What does that all mean?!

EDIT:

Reply to Big.Wayne:

You're correct my BIOS is showing the RAM voltage at 1.552V. However I put a password on my bios (which I do know) but when I put the password in I get locked out of nearly all options and can't change anything?!
Thanks

Did you follow the link in my post above? . . . it seems you have the wrong program mate! :D

Memtest86+ V4.10

What does that all mean?!
It means you are weak and your memory is weak, try again with the program linked above! ;)

Ok through the power of my mind I am going to remotely reset your BIOS password, once that is done get into the BIOS and find the memory voltage (vDimm) and change it to 1.65v then save & exit . . . load up Memtest86+ V4.10 and test again . . . if my mind powers fail and you can't remember the password then remove the CMOS battery and hope that resets it!

I had the same issues with some OCZ Ram about a year ago...didn't help that 3 out of 4 sticks were bad, however you must set the voltage and CAS settings in the BIOS.

you must set the voltage and CAS settings in the BIOS.
I agree the voltage needs adjusting (why the SPD says 1.5v I don't know?) but a user shouldn't have to fiddle with the CAS settings or other timings? . . .

When I installed mine last October, the motherboard detected totally different CAS settings and voltages to what the RAM was supposed to run at. Even to this day if I clear my CMOS I have to re enter the settings or face an unstable PC.

EDIT:

Sorted the BIOS pw issue and set the voltage to 1.66V.

Running memtest86+ (v4.10) now but have to go to a lecture and this is what is listed at time of me leaving:

Settings: RAM: 533Mhz (DDR3-1066) / CAS: 7-7-7-16 / Dual Channel

Pass 44%
Test 11%
Test #7

WallTime: 0:13:11

Cached: 3964M

RsvdMem: 12K

MemMap: e820

Cache: on

ECC: off

Test: Std

Pass: 0

Errors: 5120

ECC Errrs: 0

Errors: 5000+?! Given I've sorted the voltage I'm guessing this is a definite RMA?
