Is my new RAM shot or is this a BIOS setting ?

Hey all just got a new 4x16 set of Gskill Royal Elite 3600 14-14-14-34 and I can't get the PC to boot into windows, or even give me a bios option. Even trying 2 sticks in each set of ports could only get it to light (Using all 4 nothing lights up) up but same problem no boot. When I am attempting to boot I get no change of post code on the mobo at all just sits at a "00". Pop back in the old 4x16 Gskill Royal 3600 16-16-16-36 and boots again no problem. I did buy this ram for a new Dark Hero that's on the way but decided to give this a try in my current Gigabyte Aorus master.

By the sounds of things do you think I got dead ram, or is it possibly a voltage issue? I know this new ram is 1.45v where as the older kit is 1.35v.

Oh I did make sure I reset Xmp before I shut down and installed the new ram

What version of AGESA is the board running? There have been a lot of issues with the 11.x version and memory.

Also: you're a Canuck?

I know this is noobie but I can't find where it shows what version. I did a search on how to find and they recommended using Hwinfo and can't find in there.

I actually wondered myself if 5000 CPU could deal with G. Skill's newer 3600C14 bin at 64GB capacity.

It seems like the RAM might be dead. I have one idea to try though. I know you said you reset xmp but sometimes memory training doesn't work like that as in it's still taking secondary and tertiary training values from the C16 set you had in previous. Best bet is to remove all RAM and do a cmos reset to try and flush out any memory trained values then try 2 sticks in slots 2 and 4. I say 2 sticks cause I also heard someone say if you boot with all 4 sticks espeically at such high frequencies most boards will freak out. It's much better to try with 2 sticks first and then add another 2 once the board trained the correct values and posts successfully.

So within the multiple tries my last attempt I did these steps...
-Updated bios to newest and left at default
- Confimed on reboot before I shut down
- Pulled power and held down Power button to drain capacitors
- Pulled out old memory and used clear cmos button
- Installed new ram and attempted boot

So after all this I got the same 00 post code and no display. I shut down and pop the old ram back in and boots to a Cmos was reset screen and allows me to enter the bios. Right now my decision is to just rma the ram now, or wait until the new board gets here (Friday or Monday), and see how it goes there before shipping back.

I think you've tried everything. Not sure about Canadian rules, but if you're not going to be outside of your 'easy RMA' period (in the UK, 14 days) then I'd wait for the new board to confirm, even though the memory controller is on the CPU, there's a decent chance it'll play ball with another motherboard.

Ahhh gotcha...As I checked today it says I have 29 days left so 30 days from delivery. Gonna give this one more shot see if I can get it running...at least 2 sticks anyways and go from there.

Just got finished trying every possibly 2 stick combo utilizing both A1/B1, and A2/B2 but nothing would give me a display or anything besides the 00 post code. Oddly a couple times the sticks would light up but it was less often then not. After a billion attempts later I pop the original ram back in and works like a charm.

Gonna send back for sure just not sure not if I wanna try this again, or be content with the ram I have currently.

Did you try increasing the voltage to the recommended 1.45v with the old set?

I did not but I will try that tonight when I get home from work.

New board is here and my last part (besides the rma'd ram) will be here tomorrow, so gonna do this rebuild next Thursday/Friday. Hopefully I have better luck with the ram in the new board.

Set to 1.45 and booted flawlessly. Confirmed in hardware monitor which reported 1.452 stable. Gamed for about 30mins and everything seemed in check. Temps across the board including the memory were the norm.

This reaffirms my decsion to send the ram back sooner, rather then later a little more.

Strange normally with XMP disabled it should boot at 2133 mhz.

Totally which is why I'm pretty confident it was the ram, and not my system which already ran 4x16 3600 with no problems.

Yeah if it doesn't boot without xmp enabled my next guess would be faulty ram, given your old set works fine. If possible I'd try it in another PC before returning to be sure.

The system would boot I just would get no display through DP or HDMI. Tried every combo of 2 stick plus all 4 of course. I sent back next day to try eliminate any return problems with Newegg. Requested a replacement instead of refund so hopefully I have no problems getting a new set. Rebuilding my pc tomorrow installing a Dark Hero, Z73 aio, Corsair rm1000x, and replacing all my fans as well as a couple smaller things. If I have problems with the replacement I'm just gonna give up and keep going with what I have.

Yeah this happened to me a few weeks ago with a new build after I enabled XMP, I'd forgot to do a BIOS update which fixed it. Since you've ruled all that out and more I think it's quite safe to say something isn't right.

Now to just deal with the anxiety praying everything works fine after install tomorrow lol.
