Currently using:
Opty 146 @2.7 (1.4 Vcore/on air)
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC4000 Dual Channel Platinum Series EB-DDR CAS3
Asus A8V Deluxe mobo (AGP)
OCZ PowerStream 520w Power Supply
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 NCQ 250GB 6V250F0 SATA-II 16MB Cache
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 250GB SATA 16MB Cache
Asus X800XT PE graphics cards (AGP)
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro Sound card
Dell 24" LCD
Coolermaster ATC-110 Case
Windows XP Pro

I am thinking of switching to PCI-e and DX10 ready GPU's (January/Feb ) and was wondering what I can still keep to go into the new system. Money is tight but I reckon I will have about £600 to £700 to spend.

Any advice or recommendations would be very welcome, thank you.

PS I was going to go for an AGP card upgrade(1950 PRO when they hit the shelves soon), but figured that I have waited this long and a few more months wont kill me.

If you're making the change to PCI-E, you're going to have to choose between AM2 and C2D, no real point in getting a new 939 board, as no new CPUs will be released for that socket. That rules out your RAM, CPU, GFX card and mobo straight away. I would suggest selling them and getting a kick-ass Conroe setup to be honest.

Thank you Jimben; I had this sneaky feeling that this might be the case...=)

Do you think my current PSU will be also PCI-e/DX10GPU challenged?

All in all I think I am looking at a major upgrade and I feel that my original budget is wanting...

If you could sell the stuff that you won't be using in the new build for say £200-£300 maybe then you'd have a failry decent budget anyway :)

You seem to be in the same boat i am/was

But i've gone for the Intel upgrade path

Shame to loose out on good clocking Opty's and the PC4000 EB that's also excellent, time to cut our losses i guess
