Last night while playing No Man's Sky (which I have recently become addicted to) my screen went blank and then nothing.

Tested it and after disconnecting from the wall and reconnecting I get a flash of red from the front led and the fans move 1mm that's it.

Today I have striped everything down and tried an alternate power supply with the same results. My power supply started the other pc fine.

I am assuming motherboard.

I'll get specs up soon.

Specs:-

Corsair 750 PSU
MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard
Fx8350
16gb ram
Asus RX570
1TB Samsung 860 QVO

The SSD is ghe newest part at six months old, everything else is of an age but it has been running perfect for a good while with no hiccups. Last night was completely out of the blue.

If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Strip it all out, outside the case in case something's shorting, and only use the bare minimum to get it to boot i.e. single stick of RAM (try different slots), psu, GPU (unless you have on-board) etc to establish failed component.

Thanks for the reply Dave.

I had a ponder and ordered a ryzen 5 3600, Asus TUF motherboard and 16gb of Corsair Vengeance ram so will be stripping the whole thing down anyway.

I will be very careful putting it all back together!

Some of the Corsair PSUs have been pants over the years - depending on model and year you may want to replace that as well

I'll keep an eye on it, thanks. It is definitely working now though as it powered up my son's pc which has similar power draw to mine fine.
