well off i go happy happy in the morning my parcel arrives and brand new amd 955, asus m4a78t-e am3 motherboard and hiper 880w psu, ocz reaper 2x2 gb 1600MHz memory. All plugged into a coolermaster HAF932. I use the power cord supplied by Hiper to to start the computer and boom... all electricity in my house goes off.. a bit like what happens when you have a dodgy toaster.

well then i removed the hiper psu used my old crappy ex cool 650w to start the computer. no display on the screen and the cpu fan socket [4 pin] doesn't work. i switch computer off and connect the cpu fan to a chassis fan socket [3pin] and hoora the cpu fan is working but still no display. ive sent the motherboard and psu back for a refund but will my processor be ok?
 
Hi, Sounds like you have had a bad time of it with your new kit!:(

I dont rekon the CPU will be shot but the only way to tell will be to try it. I know that people have really abused both motherboards and CPUs and they tend to be fairly resiliant.

Hope it all works out for you, if I was a betting man I would say it will be ok.:)
 
tysm for the reply. i guess i gotta wait until i get my new mobo and psu from ocuk tomoro. yea i used belkin surge protection, thank god i bought that only cost me a tenner.. phew. ocuk is the best ive never had to return anything to them because of fault.. even their b grade components are amazing. hope i have enough funds in my bank account to buy me the m4a79t.. fingers crossed.
 
all i did was take psu and mobo out of the box, hook it up to my case and turn on PSU. didn't even press power button on computer.
